This course is designed to build on the foundations that you were given on the Elementary First Aid. You will revisit the skill set and work hard to perfect them whilst picking up some extra skills for managing incidents as part of the First Aid response party onboard.
This course will build confidence, embed the lessons of First Aid assessments and give you the confidence to care for someone that you can not get to a hospital immediately.
Candidates must have successfully completed MCA approved training in Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3).
There is 1 learning outcome identified by the Merchant Navy Training Board for this course:
OUTCOME 1: The learner is able to apply immediate first aid to an injured casualty and a person suffering illness onboard. To achieve this you will cover the following topics:
You should have a good level of fitness and be able to work on the ground easily as you will be expected to deal with simulated emergencies in a range of settings.
Upon successful completion of the four-day course you will gain the Proficiency in Medical First Aid (STCW A-VI/4-1) qualification.
This progressive First Aid course (A-VI/4-1) is designed to give seafarers the skills and essential knowledge to take action when encountering medical emergencies at sea.
This Maritime Fire Fighter training course is part of the mandatory basic safety training for all seafarers with designated safety duties. It deals with the precautions needed to minimise the risk of fires, how fires are caused and how to extinguish them.
